Rising cost of Everything

From Gas to Food

Is it just me or does it seem like everybody is feeling the pinch at the gas pump? Even the grocery stores are starting to allow the effects to trickle down to the consumer as well. Some even say that the gas prices are also effecting the housing market. Speculating that homeowners are selling their homes and are moving closer to their jobs in order to save on the gas mileage. Which has created a buyers market and with so many new homes being built, homeowners are getting the offers that they need to sell their homes, forget about making a profit. In some cases it won't happen.

Even small business owners have to raise their prices or add a gas tax of their own to the services they provide because of the unrealistic gas prices that effect them and force them to pass that cost on to their clients. Why isn't anything being done about it? Is it true that the average consumer really doesn't care how much gas prices rise because they will still use their vehicles and not other forms of transportation? Well, for some yes, that is true but for the vast majority that is not true.

I believe that even if everyone were to start using other means of transportation the rising cost of gas would still affect the change purses of great deal of commuters. Not all of us have the convenience of working close to home or from home. You would think that businesses would try to help offset the amount of money that is being spent commuting, by offering gas reimbursements or flex schedules so that some of the work can be done from the home offices of their employees.

Are there any solutions that can be used to lift the burden off, those that have to commute, at the gas pump. As far as the grocery stores go. I'm not sure if the farmers that provide alot of what we eat can compromise so that the cost that are not past on to us. Many grocery stores are even starting to do away with discounts on gas for consumers that have their store cards . I remember when gas wasn't an issue, but now it's like a choice between filling up or paying a household bill.

My advice fill-up when you are at half. Buy enough food for the week and use a list when shopping. Track every cent. Don't stock up unless you can make it work for you. Have fun at home and save money that way as well. I know you have probably heard these before, but just try them and always adjust advice to fit your schedule and needs not the other persons. Because one item may work for me, but you need three. Also hears another tip to help you save on gas, try searching online for the cheapest price and closes locations near you. Because right now, EVERY penny does count.

Unfortunately, the American consumer seems insistent on continuing to drive large vehicles and consume great amounts of gasoline. I agree with you that incentive should be put in place to encourage people to use mass transportation, etc. But, it'll be a long time before that happens. :(
